What is the difference between handmade carpets and machine-made carpets?
Firstly, look at the back of the carpet. When a carpet expert check a carpet, he or she looks at the back of the carpet firstly instead of the carpet surface. The handmade carpets are all woven by the weavers sitting in front of the loom. The method of weaving the carpet by the weaver is called hand-knotting, so if you look at the back of the hand-made carpet, it is made up together by knots next to each other. Some people will say that the back of the machine-made carpet also has knots, but if you look closely, you will find that the knots of the machine-made carpets are not close together. Of course, this is not the most important thing. The most important thing is that the back of the handmade carpet is very clear. It is exactly the same as the carpet surface. When you see the back of the carpet, you can clearly know the pattern of the carpet surface. However, the back of the machine-made is very unclear, and you can not see the pattern of the carpet surface from the back of the carpet.
Second, look at the fringes. There are usually fringes on both sides of the handmade carpet. Because it has warp threads, the warp threads will be hung on the loom before weaving, and the fringes are actually the finished warp threads reserved for the edges of the carpet. The fringes of the handmade carpet can be removed if you don't want it, but it is not cut, which is sewn to the back of the carpet so that it does not come out. The machine-made carpet generally have no fringes, if have, the fringes are added to the machine-made carpet later.
Third, look at the edge of the carpet. If you look at the edge of the carpet on the back of the hand-made carpet, you will find that the handmade carpet is actually collected on the basis of the original warp, and it needs to be done by hand. We call it wrapped edge. Generally, our handmade carpet will be wrapped around 2-3 side, it looks very delicate. The edge of the machine-made carpet is machine-sewn, not integrated with the back of the carpet, which is thicker.
Fourth, look at the pattern. Briefly speaking , the pattern of handmade carpets is beautiful, natural transition, and the patterns are three-dimensional. The machine-made carpet mimics the pattern of the handmade carpet, the transition is sharp, and the pattern looks delicate but not three-dimensional. The reason for this phenomenon is that the color of the machine-made carpet is limited, usually less than 10 colors, and the color of the handmade carpet is often one to twenty, and there is no limit, so the pattern effect of the handmade carpet is better than that of machine-made carpet.
In addition, the price of handmade carpets is also relatively higher than that of machine-made carpets, and the raw materials for handmade carpets are better than machine-made carpets.
